Like Dorothy’s path down the yellow brick road, my career has been a winding adventure filled with countless twists and turns - some expected, others not so much. (In 2021, we call that knowing how to pivot.)

My journalism career began at The Advocate, the LGBTQ print magazine, where I wrote daily news briefs and pop culture commentary, and reported on long term projects during the historic gay marriage battles of 2004. Today I contribute regularly to BBC TravelThrillist, and Sierra with feature stories and personal essays about travel, sustainability, and food. I also write and edit copy for the Microsoft Customer Insights Research team blog.

From environmental issues, like the health of our public lands, to an intimate, personal tragedy experienced by a group of nuns, the stories I respond to most are those that connect us to our communities and shape who we are as people.

Some of my favorite projects include the time I journeyed to Canada's Yukon Territory and visited Dawson City; the weekend I spent hiking the Channel Islands National Park; and the spring I went storm chasing with extreme weather scientists.

I use all forms of media to tell inspiring and compelling narratives - from traditional copy writing to social media campaigns to television production - and have produced various forms of content for Netflix, NBC, CBS, Discovery Channel, NPR and MTV.
